Meet the newest colour in our wax coat family: burned orange. A soft, warm shade of orange that looks beautiful on every Dachshund. This is the coat that not only fits the unique build of the Dachshund, but also matches their character and style: bold, headstrong and a little bit classic.
The wax coat gives your Dachshund that timeless look that instantly brings a smile to your face. The lightly weathered wax finish, the subtle “wear marks” and the sturdy design create a charming vintage style that feels straight out of the English countryside. Stylish and practical: the extra length keeps your Dachshund comfortably warm, and the wide belly strap protects the lungs and belly from wind and rain. Perfect for forest walks, autumn days and rainy adventures.
For wire-haired and long-haired Dachshunds with a good undercoat, this is the ideal coat for spring and autumn, and sometimes even warm enough for winter. For Dachshunds that get cold more easily, such as short-haired Dachshunds, you can pair this wax coat with a single-layer fleece coat or wool mid-layer. The wax coat itself has a cotton lining: lightweight, comfortable and water-repellent. Great for outdoor adventures, but sometimes not quite warm enough for the real cold-sensitive types.
As with all our coats, this wax coat is handmade in our atelier in Italy. No mass production, but craftsmanship and attention to detail. After years of perfecting the fit, we’ve created a coat truly shaped for a Dachshund: extra length along the back, a generous belly flap and Velcro at the chest and under the belly so the coat is easy to put on and fits beautifully. Once you’ve selected the correct size using our measuring guide, you can adjust the coat precisely to your Dachshund’s body. Watch the video below to see how it works.

Please note: this wax coat does not have an opening for a harness. A harness should therefore be worn over the coat, as long as it is a Y- or H-harness that sits further back on the body. Other harness styles often shift toward the armpits, which is of course uncomfortable. Looking for a harness that always works well with this coat? Our own Dachshund harnesses are designed specifically for this.

The advice remains: measure your Dachshund based on the measuring advice and compare the measured centimeters with those in the size chart. Do not rely on our advice about which size suits which Dachshund, every Dachshund is different.anders.

Care instructions
To ensure a long life, avoid washing this coat frequently. What makes this wax coat so special is its wax layer, which develops a beautiful patina over time as it’s worn. If the coat gets dirty, allow the dirt to dry and brush it off. Washing will remove the beeswax, which eliminates its water-repellent function. If you must wash it, hand wash only and reapply wax afterward. Let the coat air dry – never tumble dry.
