Otta's Friends made this unique jacket especially for us: the
Dachshund wax coat!
Eleonora from Tuscany made this water-repellent Dachshund wax coat for us. We think the look of the wax coat goes so well with the image of the Dachshund! Tough, chic and really outdoorsy.
As you know from us, this Dachshund wax coat is specially made for the long body of the Dachshund. Extra long on the back so that your Dachshund does not get a cold bottom, but the belly has also been thought of: there you will find the extra wide band that protects the lungs against water, wind and cold. Wax is known for its warm and water-repellent effect and it is therefore not for nothing that wax coats are often used outdoors and during hunting.
A super nice fit and very nice to combine with the woolen scarfs from Otta's Friends. This Dachshund wax coat is lined with thick cotton and, in combination with the thick wax exterior, wonderfully warm for this time of year. Perfect for, for example, the rough and long-haired Dachshunds that do have an undercoat but can use that little bit of extra protection.
Due to the adjustable Velcro on the chest and around the belly, this Dachshund wax coat is also ideal for growing Dachshunds and puppies. By giving space on the chest and belly, the coat becomes longer and the wax coat therefore grows with your Dachshund.
Your Dachshund can wear this coat with a collar and harness. The harness can be worn over the jacket. Please note: this only applies to our own harnesses! These are adjustable in such a way that they have room to wear over a coat and still give your Dachshund that shoulder freedom it needs (so it doesn't end up in the armpits).

Neck: measure the neck just before the front legs all around
Chest: measure the chest just behind the front legs all around
Back length: measure the back length from the shoulder blades to the tail
Maintenance instructions
The wax coat doesn't need to be washed often (we prefer never). Beeswax has a very repellent effect against dirt and water. Dirt can be wiped off with a dry cloth. For maintenance, you should re-wax the jacket twice a year (depending on how often it is worn). If you notice that the wax coat is becoming stiffer, a new wax layer must be applied. If washing is still necessary: in soapy water / hand wash and air dry (not in the dryer or on a heater).
