Meet the newest addition to our collection: the double-layer Dachshund winter coat made from wool and fleece. This type of coat has been a customer favourite for years thanks to its warm, soft and flexible feel. In addition to the black check and beige block print, this Dachshund winter coat is now also available in an elegant chocolate brown colour. The wool outer layer combined with the soft fleece lining creates a warm, insulating winter coat that keeps your Dachshund comfortable on cold days.
This Dachshund winter coat is the perfect winter coat for short-haired Dachshunds, who truly need extra protection during winter. For wire-haired and long-haired Dachshunds, we only recommend this coat if they are sensitive to the cold, have a poor undercoat, or have recently been hand-stripped. In all other cases, this double-layer coat is too warm and you’re better off choosing a single-layer coat, such as one of our fleece coats.
Like all our Dachshund coats, this winter coat is handmade in our atelier in Italy. No mass production, but carefully crafted artisan work. After years of development, we have created the perfect “Dachshund fit”: extra length along the back, a generous belly flap that protects both the lungs and most of the belly, and adjustable Velcro at the chest and under the belly. This makes the coat easy to put on and perfectly adjustable to your Dachshund’s body once you’ve chosen the right size using our measuring guide. In the video below, we show you how to do this.
Please note: this Dachshund winter coat does not have an opening for a harness. A harness should therefore be worn over the coat. Our own Dachshund harnesses are designed specifically for this and always fit nicely over the winter coat without shifting or creeping into the armpits. Many other harness models do not offer this, with all the usual consequences.
Want to add extra warmth or complete the elegant chocolate brown look? Combine the Dachshund winter coat with one of our snoods.

NB! The advice based on Dachshund size and weight is a guideline. The advice remains: measure your Dachshund based on the measuring advice and compare the measured centimeters with those in the size chart. Do not rely on our advice about which size suits which Dachshund, every Dachshund is different.anders.

Maintenance instructions
For a long life, wash the coat as little as possible. If the coat gets dirty, let the dirt dry and brush it off. The coat can be washed on the wool program, preferably with a wool detergent, at a maximum of 30°C. Allow to air dry and do not wash it in the washing machine.
